Hello everyone!
I hope you enjoy my first real entry for Africa!!
I will try to include everything!
Saturday we spent the day flying. We were SO lucky to have everyone seated together on the flight from Dulles to Addis Ababa! You can probably guess that it was full of entertainment for the other passengers :)
First I really want to hit on some serious things before I go into great detail of some hilarious an interesting experiences!
I, as well as three others, really got sick during the flights. It was miserable! It was hard to eat and drink! But our group is so connected! When one of us was sick there was immediate care, helping eachother not only with sharing motion sickness medicines but, if prayer was needed, there was hands being laid!
So far we have been so connected through the Spirit! Before we boarded our plane in DC we got in a big circle and prayed a LOUD prayer as a group! Praying over eachother and safety and for us to work together in unity! You could immediately feel the Holy Ghost at our prayer circle of 20 at the gates! Tabitha at the time was unable to hold down foo but, God touched her!
After that we had more prayer!
Once we stopped in Addis (Ethiopia), I was feeling very sick! After a few failed attempts of taking medicines a few ladies including Sister Jury laid hands on me and pleaded the blood over me! I definitely felt a touch from God and have been getting stronger and stronger!
Not 10 minutes later Anothe young lady, Jessica, was feeling sick! I felt the Holy Gjost quicken me to pray with her, so a bunch of us laid hands on her and the Holy Gjost definitely fell on us! Within 5 minutes she was completely healed!
Praise God for his hand!
Now I must explain why my title is called "Bag Boy"
We only have one guy on our trip (not including Brother Jury). And he has been not only such a help being our bag boy, he also has been sharing the lime light (with none only than myself lol).
Our thanks goes to Brandon!
Or, Eric.
Oh yes, Zach Davie.
It's been one day and he already has 3 nicknames. Hes a good sport and you are about to know why!
Poor guy has experienced all kids of crazy on this trip!
On the plane I mentioned we were altogether. Well the row across from me was a few ladies flying home to Ethiopia, one was especially interested In what we were doing!
If you don't know, our group shirts have all the countries of the Apostolic Youth Corps listed on the back.
Well this particular lady decided she wanted a closer look.
While Zach was talking with me and a few others we notice he starts slowly backing up.
This woman had been tugging him by the back of his shirt and proceeded to tickle him I. The process! Poor guy was terrified but, we definitely got a good laugh!
The adventure does not stop there for Mr Zach. While stretching his legs he encountered what seemed to be man drinking. He asked Zach what he was doing and he told him about the missions trip, so the drunk passenger proceeded to encourage Zach to spread the Gospel and to save souls. Ironic!
We all had a good laugh at Zachs interesting encounters!
Once we finally arrived in Addis, we, of course, don't know what in the world we are doing!
We go off the plane and hopped Onto the bus waiting for us. We drove over to a building where our fellow plane members got off, so we did too, clueless!
We walked up the stairs and walked down a long corridor. Blind leading the blind. We come to another set of stairs that went down, we followed it and it took us to the other end of the building outside!! Where our bus we just got off of, was waiting! How ridiculous! We definitely got our exercise, we finally figured out what we were doing thanks God!
Once we got to the gates we had people asking us who we were and what we were doing. People were SO excited that we were on a missions work they started taking pictures with us!! It was strange but so funny!
We were exhausted and excited to make it to Arusha, Tanzania! Our hotel is gorgeous and full of beautiful decorations.
Again we had some laughs. Our bathroom is awesome equipped with a toilet, sink, beday, and a tub/shower! Only one thing is missing. We don't have a curtain to cover the tu. from water going everywhere! Which, by the way, it did! When you turn the water on we learJned we had to be careful how high bc water squirts everywhere!!!! The entire bathroom was soaked and we laughed so hard!
If only I had time to post everything! Thanks for the prayers, don't stop! Great things are coming!
We have made many memories already and our first day is tomorrow! Tonight we ended the evening with delicious food at the Arisha hotel and met the missionary family. Afterward we had a discussion of what was to come of our week and half ahead. We shared stories to why we came on the trip,, they were very touching! What a great group!
So greatful of such a loving and compassionate group who's ready to start revival in the country of Tanzania, you could see the love and burden on the missionaries tonight. I believe we are ready too share that passion with them.
Let's go!
Praying for all of you and excited to hear about what God is doing!
